We started off the weekend with an art show at Miss Shannon's house (Avery's part time caregiver during the week) where we were able to see all the wonderfully artistic projects Avery has done. She has a more modern take on art, which we can appreciate and look upon with an open mind. Last week Shannon bought a bunch of colorful and fun pieces of glitter, paper, stickers, etc., so the kids could make an art project. Well, lucky ones, feast your eyes on Art Project Exhibit A:
Yes, those are cotton balls and scotch tape. It's modern - don't judge!
Shannon has a six year old son, Connor. Avery and Connor just adore each other and seeing the two of them together gets me excited for Avery to have a sibling (not now, but in due time).
Jeff and I had a few errands to run on Saturday morning, so we left Avery with a new sitter and everyone did great! They went to the park, ate lunch, took a nap (the latter is a big deal in our house!) and even had time to do some creative hand prints - see below for Art Project Exhibit B.
An elephant, a dog and a cat, of course.
Saturday afternoon was warm, so we headed down to the pool with some neighbors and during this escapade discovered that Avery not only loves the pool, but LOVES the spa. She kept herself busy playing with her little friends in the warm water for over a half hour. I see a lot of pool and spa days in our future....and I'll be sure to take some pictures next time!
For Mother's Day my only requests were to sleep in, get in a run and relax. We've been busy lately and Avery has battled a few sickness back to back, so a nice mellow day just the three of us sounded nothing short of perfect and that it was. We ended up getting in a nice walk at Battiquitos Lagoon and learned something we pretty much already knew...Avery LOVES ramps.
No joke, I have over five minutes of video and 10 photos of this little one getting a kick out of the ramp at the nature center. My day was already perfect, but seeing my daughter like this made me so happy. It reminded me of being a carefree kid rolling down a hill or playing hide and seek. Purely innocent and happy. Ahhh...the joys of childhood! Here are some more photos from the walk...
We love us some nature!
Jeff + Stephanie = Love and Avery Elizabeth Simpson =)
Getting onto the green at Aviara was not part of the "trail"...we off-roaded a bit.
I don't know whose expression I love more!
Hahhahahahaha!!
I'm so honored to be the mother of such an energetic, happy, sweet and funny little girl. She is the light of my life and shows me everyday what pure love looks and feels like. Thank you so much for loving me and letting me love you.
Now, a quick side note...Avery has put two words together from time to time (mainly "hi dada"), but over the past week has been saying two words together a lot. We've heard "Hello dada," "Bye bye Mama," "Agua Papa" and all variations in between. It's so cute to hear her little voice start to make sentences! Oh, and agua? Well, that's her learning Spanish all on her own. Good girl.
FPT
So. Much. FUN! And, I love the tongue. She gets that from her Grandma. =)
Jeff and I met on a blind date in December 2004 and were married in October 2007. He is the apple of my eye, the hop in my step and the love of my life. In September 2010 we proudly welcomed our first child, daughter Avery Elizabeth and this site was created to share with our friends and family, near and far, Avery's journey through this magical thing called life.
